Press material related to the 2009 Commission Communication “GDP and Beyond” and the presentation event on Sep 8 is available here.
The Beyond GDP organisers sought to have the active participation of press members in the event, in order to help other participants understand the media's perspectives on measuring and reporting progress. Media coverage of the Beyond GDP conference was extensive, ranging from newswires (Reuters, IPS, Efe-ES, Belga, Dow Jones, AFP, Ansa and DPA) to dailies (La Repubblica, Corriere della Sera, Frankfurter Allgemaine Zeitung, Der Standard, Het Financieele Dagblad, De Telegraaf, DiarioEconomico, and De Standaard in Belgium). Coverage extended beyond Europe to India, China and the US. The conference was also extensively discussed in specialised media such as Ends Europe Daily, The Parliament Magazine, Euractiv and Forbes. Beyond GDP featured on a wide range of web sites, blogs and on Youtube. Finally, radio coverage included Radio France Internationale, and television coverage included EUX.TV, Kanaal Z and Euronews. To understand progress, true wealth and well-being we all need reliable and appropriate data, and we also need to communicate this information in effective and compelling ways.
Select coverage of the Beyond GDP Conference is presented below (ordered by date of appearance). Press Material distributed at the conference can also be downloaded below. Additional articles about the Beyond GDP Initiative and other related news can be found on the Recent News page.
